Challenge

After what seems like ages under a pandemic threat, audiences were clamoring for renewed community and remarkable content in a safe and family-friendly environment. Together with Garth Brooks and our Drive-In partners, that's exactly what we brought to life as Encore Live's first proprietary offering.

 

Strategy

Encore Live painstakingly organized the premier network of over 300 independent Drive-In Theater owners and operators to create the first national distribution footprint for music experiences in the COVID-19 era. To prove the concept, Encore Live partnered with the best-selling American solo artist of all time to create and deliver an all-new and exclusive, one-night-only concert: ENCORE LIVE PRESENTS GARTH BROOKS: A DRIVE-IN CONCERT EXPERIENCE.

 

Outcome

  • Breakthrough Announcement: Thanks to a Garth Brooks exclusive announcement on Good Morning America on June 11, Encore Live racked up over 1 BILLION engagements (vs. impressions) through the simultaneous air date of June 27, 2020.

 

  • Category Leadership: Encore Live has been recognized by press and industry pundits as varied as Billboard and Rolling Stone, to the Today Show, USA Today, CNN, Good Housekeeping, Wall Street Journal and People Magazine, to leading regional and local press as pioneers who beat the largest incumbents to the opportunity to deliver a premium music content experience in a safe and CDC-approved fashion through the most nostalgic of platforms: Drive-In Theaters in The United States and Canada.

 

  • Consumer Delight: Demand for the show across the US and Canada was so significant, Ticketmaster received over 750,000 unique fans immediately upon going on sale, with 122,000 fans making it into the initial queue to purchase 55,000 tickets within the first 2 hours. As testament to the massive pent-up demand for socially-distanced, family-friendly and community-centric premium entertainment options, ENCORE LIVE PRESENTS GARTH BROOKS: A DRIVE-IN CONCERT EXPERIENCE broke Ticketmaster. It was the largest single attraction on-sale in Ticketmaster history.
